Teva
Pharmaceuticals: Becoming an Industry Leader
You've heard the names of the major players in pharmaceuticals: GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., Wyeth... So, who is Teva Pharmaceuticals? Teva is among the top 20 pharmaceutical companies and among the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the world. Teva is an international company that develops, manufactures and markets generic and proprietary branded pharmaceuticals. Thriving for more than a century in the pharmaceuticals industry, Teva operates in over 50 countries and employs approximately 25,000 people worldwide. When Teva made the choice to consolidate multiple locations into their new North American Administrative office, they requested Meyer Design, Inc. to design a space that could provide adequate room for their staff growth projections over the next 5 - 7 years. The Meyer team worked closely with Steve Middlebrooks, Director Facilities Engineering for Teva, to incorporate Teva's business objectives into the new design. A 70,000 square foot vacant warehouse that Meyer Design, Inc. transformed into a contemporary office building, provided plenty of square footage for Teva's current requirements. Every decision that was made along the way and every detail of the space plan included a future 50,000 square foot addition that will be constructed as their growth warrants. Prior to Teva leasing their building, Meyer Design's architectural team incorporated wonderful new details including an entrance canopy, windows, and landscaping to bring life to the building with the goal of attracting new tenants for the building owner, Liberty Property Trust. Contemporary finishes were selected to accent the building's interior and common areas with special emphasis on the lobby.
Meyer Design, Inc. also coordinated with a security consultant to incorporate security features into the design at the request of Teva. The corridors were positioned at specific angles and security bollards were strategically placed to minimize the number of access points into the building. Security was increased at the main entrance through placing the receptionist in the most prominent area, while also adding a conference room directly connected to the reception area, which provides Teva with a place to host visitors. The final result? A highly secure, aesthetically pleasing 70,000 SF office with the capability to grow into a 50,000 SF addition for this highly successful international pharmaceutical company.
