Name: Michael
J. Brown Business Philosophy: The Client's Interest Comes First When and how did you become involved in commercial real estate? In 1975, my Father In Law suggested that I meet with Roger Hope of Jackson Cross to interview for a position that was available. The project was representing the I-95 Business Center in Bensalem. What has been the most challenging project to win so far and how did you win it? I would say it was the marketing and sale of a Pharmaceutical "Sterile Injectible" manufacturing facility in Chicago. The combined team included two commercial real estate professionals from the Chicago office of Insignia, a Pharmaceutical Process Engineer and myself. The experience and expertise of the team made all of the difference in the client's choice. What project have you enjoyed working on the most and why? The building located at 335-395 Phoenixville Pike in Malvern has been the most fun for me. Creating a strategy to position the building in the market as a Biotechnology "Accelerator" facility and then implementing the plan has been challenging. The net result of the effort is that we have leased two Laboratory Suites over the last six months with a lease out for signature on another unit and two proposals out for two additional Suites. If you could change one thing about the current real estate market, what would it be and why? I would like to see Institutional and Private Investors control more of the Real Estate in the market. From a listing perspective it would provide more opportunities to the brokerage community. What do you like most about your job? Every day is different.
You start with a plan each day and do your best to execute the details,
but both the market and your client are dynamic targets and you never
know where the day will take you. I think it would
have something to do with the Ocean. I have an interest in Marine Biology
and sea environments. It might also be something as simple as opening
a surf shop on the west Coast.
