GMAC Mortgage - In-Progress Meyer Design, Inc. has transformed what used to be the Fort Washington Expo Center, into GMAC Mortgage's new 450,000 SF headquarters. When the project is complete in mid-November, 2,500 GMAC employees from 5 different buildings will be consolidated into this one location. GMAC's primary goals were to increase collaboration among the varying business groups and to relocate to a building within the local vicinity so they could retain employees from the Horsham area. This facility accomplishes both of these goals, while also providing ample space for their future growth. Meyer Design, Inc. assisted in adapting the building for office use. New signage, new windows and a new façade were designed and implemented into the building. Below are a few recent photos of the project undergoing construction.
Above: The 1-story portion of the project, which is very close to 100% complete.
Above: The 2-story portion of the building under construction. This part of the project is about 85% complete.
Above left: Meyer incorporated 3 structural skylights to bring more natural light into the center of the large building footprint. Above right: Meyer specified 14 1/2 ft high windows along the perimeter to allow for extra high ceilings and accommodate the large volume of space. The entire project will be finished and GMAC will be 100% moved into their new space by mid-November, 2007.
