WXPN Opens with Great Fanfare!

After spending almost six decades broadcasting from an old Victorian house at the University of Pennsylvania, WXPN has moved into its new home in the Hajoca Building, at 3025 Walnut Street, just a few blocks from 30th Street Station on the University of Pennsylvania Campus.

WXPN's new 12,700 SF headquarters and station features state-of-the-art studios that support a variety of production needs ranging from one-on-one interviews of individual artists to live performances of large bands. XPN's new digs also include 43 employee office spaces and 14 student work study areas.

Grand Opening celebrations kicked off with a few words from Governor Ed Rendell and Mayor John Street, followed by office / studio tours of the new space and the unveiling of three large murals created by local artists Paul Santoleri and Parris Stancell. The festivities continued on October 2 with the very first musical performance by Jonatha Brooke at the new World Café Live music venue.

Lots of buzz has been happening in the Philadelphia Business Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer and other local publications, about XPN's new home.
